Work

Occupation(s)

The following organizations keep me occupied much of the time:

Cornell University School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions
I have worked for the School of Continuing Education at Cornell University since February 1998. I was initially hired in a desktop computer support position, but after learning a great deal about Web servers, and Web application development on the job, I was hired as the Webmaster when the position was created in May 2001. I'm now responsible for building and maintaining the School's various Web sites. This includes working with static HTML pages, as well as developing extensive Web-based applications, such as online enrollment systems, opt-in e-mail and marketing systems, and a plethora of intranet administrative systems. All-in-all, it's a great place to work, because the people I work with are great, the work is interesting, the organization is socially beneficial, and there's always an opportunity to learn something new.
GNU/Linux, Windows, and MacOS Consulting Services
I started consulting in 1996 because of a high demand for such services in the Ithaca area. The demand is still there, but I have scaled back my participation in the field to just a few select Windows and Macintosh clients, and new clients who are interested in GNU/Linux and other Free Software.
Ithaca Free Software Association (IFSA)
A few friends and I established the Ithaca Free Software Association, its Web site, and related mailing list to support an educational technology event that we were attending at Ithaca College in the Spring of 2005. I build and maintain the Web site which now has over sixty members and a large collection of member-written documents. IFSA's primary goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of Free Software in the central New York area, and to support local users of Free Software.
