A scene from Richard III

The Red Bull Players are an Ithaca theatre group dedicated to the performance of English Renaissance drama — the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Their name is taken from one of the most popular of the public theatres in Renaissance London, the Red Bull. They have been invited to perform at national Shakespeare conferences and as far away as Scotland and India.

Summer 2008: King Lear

This summer The Red Bull Players present Shakespeare's astonishing vision of human existence in a world tearing itself apart through violence, betrayal, and the lust for power.

An epic tragedy of family, of extreme cruelty and extreme loyalty, of self-knowledge gained through suffering, and of the fleeting fragility of joy.

Shakespeare at the Cornell Plantations

In the summer of 2003, the Red Bull Players began an exciting new venture - free outdoor Shakespeare performances on the beautiful wooded grounds of Cornell Plantations in Ithaca New York. These outdoor daylight performances present Shakespeare's works under conditions very similar to those of the Globe and other theatres for which they were originally conceived.

Shakespeare in India?

A visiting professor from India, in residence at Cornell during the summer of 2004, was so impressed with our production of Sir John Falstaff and the Merry Wives of Windsor that he invited us to develop a Shakespeare production to take to Changanacherry, India! We have been exploring this exciting opportunity and are looking for the financial, logistical, and institutional support to make it possible.
